KINGSPORT — Eastman has announced that due to the public health impact of COVID-19 and to support the health and well-being of its stockholders, employees and their families, the company will hold its 2020 Annual Meeting of Stockholders (Annual Meeting) in a virtual meeting format only, via webcast, in place of a physical gathering.

The Annual Meeting of the company will be held on Thursday, May 7, at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time as originally scheduled, but without a physical location. Stockholders at the close of business on March 16 are eligible to attend and vote (or have voted by proxy) their shares at the Annual Meeting.

For additional information regarding how stockholders may attend, participate in, or vote at the Annual Meeting, refer to Eastman’s supplemental proxy materials filed Monday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

As for how the company is dealing with its contractors during the pandemic, Eastman spokesman Brad Belote responded: “We have communicated to our on-site contractors what Eastman is doing and has done in response to the pandemic. We have asked them for their own responses to the situation including, but not limited to, travel restrictions, hygiene protocol and cleaning procedures, personnel quarantine, medical screening, limits to travel between sites, limits on personal travel, and plans to limit in-person contact through remote interactions or the relocation of work that is not site specific.”
